GEORGIA RADIO - The countdown has begun, and the Georgia National Fairgrounds are buzzing with anticipation as they prepare to once again host the Georgia National Fair in Perry, running from October 5th to the 15th. With a promise of over 500,000 guests, more than 80 thrilling rides, a tantalizing array of 100 food vendors, and a million dollars worth of free entertainment, this annual extravaganza is set to delight visitors of all ages. The question on everyone's lips: What do you Fair for?
Drawing attendees from across the Southeastern United States, each visitor brings their unique Fair favorite to the table. Whether it's the exhilarating rides, mesmerizing livestock shows, impressive competitive exhibits, toe-tapping live music, mouthwatering cuisine, or even retail therapy through an abundance of shopping options, the Georgia National Fair caters to the diverse tastes of all its patrons. This event truly offers something for everyone.
One of the standout aspects of the Georgia National Fair is undoubtedly the food, a fact not lost on Maggie Lane, the Fairgrounds Marketing Director. She shares a staggering statistic: "Over 66,000 corndogs were enjoyed at the 2022 Georgia National Fair, not to mention the 50,000 ears of corn and 42,000 turkey legs. I think it’s safe to say that guests LOVE Fair food. This year, the Georgia National Fair announces 23 new Fair food items for fairgoers to enjoy!"
As the Georgia National Fair gears up for its 34th edition, it continues to thrive by blending timeless traditions with exciting new elements. According to Lane, "Our team works hard to make every Fair experience memorable and unique. By combining traditional elements such as nightly fireworks shows and midway rides with new concerts, food options, and family-friendly entertainment, we hope to encourage Fairgoers to return year after year."
This year, the Fair introduces a fresh lineup of entertainment, featuring musical artists like Georgia's very own Clayton Hackle and the Georgia Female Artist of the Year, Megan Fowler. However, that's not all; the Disc-Connected K9s will make their debut, bringing their internationally acclaimed professional frisbee dog show to dazzle the crowds with the largest collection of the best frisbee dogs on the planet.
In a groundbreaking partnership with American Idol, the Georgia National Fair will become the inaugural step in the national audition process. Contestants will have the opportunity to compete for virtual auditions with American Idol executive producers. Fairgoers are encouraged to watch these auditions and cheer on their favorites. Live auditions will take place on the All-American stage on Friday, October 13th, from 1 PM to 4 PM.
